First Class Coffins - Part 1

Sitting by the pool in his truncs, half wet and tanning himself in front of his beachhouse at Ixtapa with a glass of Sunday Sunshine Cocktail, Roger Tallworth switched glances between the four men standing in from of him. He pulled up his shades on his bald forehead and twirled his white whiskers and started talking to them after placing his smoking pipe on the stand.

"Remember laddies, this should be the most talked about brand building event in town.Music and Entertainment should fill guests to the brim. The townfolk should take this event viral, speak about it until they drop down exhausted, especially since to the world, we are posing this to be organized by my daughter Daphne. The food should be delicacies from all corners of the world, bring in the best chefs. Make all the arrangements they need."

'Yes Sir' replied the four gentlemen all dressed up in impeccable black tweed suits, offwhite shirts and pointed black shoes polished to show their own faces.

Andy, please take care of the cash will ya? Money should not be the cause for ending up this event in a disastrous manner. At the same time, Andy you know what happens if you one tries to goof up with the accounts, dont ya?"

Roger gave a small curt nod turned looking at Andy who in turn shook his head in a tensed manner. Andy had been by his side for 'ever since'. Andy will never forget the death of the previous accountant under misterious circumstances which resulted in him becoming Roger's main guy.

"I have set aside 2 Million Dollars for this event. I want every bloody single penny accounted for Andy."

"Sure Sir" Andy said.

"My event manager arrives in 15 minutes to discuss the plan for the event. He will identify a portfolio for each one of you and then you can run around like mad chickens to achieve what you can."

'Yes Sir' replied the four gentlemen

"Now stop saying 'Yes Sir...Yes Sir' and get you freakin' #$%^ movin'... will ya?"

The four men bowed and wished Roger and then silently walked away smiling to themselves that they were still alive, allowing Roger to get a good view of the vast blue expanse of water with its white sand beach in front of him at his beach house in Ixtapa. He started smoking from his pipe and relaxed. The lawn was being tended to by 2 women. The Korean grass spread across the lawn looked like a magic carpet. Short Palm trees imported and planted gave a cool feel to the whole environment. The damp wind wafted local cusine aroma made Roger smile unknowingly.

'Hey Dad'

Roger heard footsteps and realised Daphne call out to him from behind. He turned. At 23 years, Daphne was stunning. Daphne was in a dazzling red outfit and was carrying a tall glass of green smoothie which kept her in shape. A lady carried a towel, some accessories and refill pot for her glass along with her Rolls Royce Car Keys walking beside her.

"Well Well, looks like a beautiful lady is ready to go out somewhere??"

"Oh Dad, you know with this event coming up, i need to do some heavy shopping you see."

Roger put down his pipe and slowly stood up. 6 Feet 2 Inches, he hovered above the 5 feet 4 inches Daphne who always felt she was a baby for his father. "Look here Daphne, I know you need to do some shopping for the event. But the event manager is here in 15 minutes and i would say...you should be here to give him all the good suggestions"

"Oh Daddy, when you are taking care of it do you think i should worry, i am sure you will be at your best when you know i am hosting this event" She gave a smal peck on Roger's cheek after standing on her toes to meet his height.

Pamela stepped out of her Jaguar and was walking down the lawn. Tall slender, posh by her looks and walk, Pamela was a perfect match for Roger in both looks and sophistication. She had just come back from the church. A religious lady indeed.

"What did you just say Daphne. I didnt hear it properly...could you repeat!" Pamela howled

Daphne sighed lifting her hands up in the air in frustration and dropping it back near her hips. "Oh Crap...i didnt know she would be back so soon eh!" She winked at Roger.

"Is this the time for shopping? You know how is this place Ixtapa. Its not safe my dear young lady. If you need to go for shopping finish it before 17 hours. Didnt i explain this many times before we left from home?"

"Okay Pammy...ill do as you say from tomorrow. Just excuse me this one time will ya?" said Daphne.

"No way Daphne, its not gonna happen today" said Pamela.

"Dad...look at Pammy!!"said Daphne.

"Pammy dear, she is gonna go in her RR and be back in an hour. Do you want Daphne sad for the event?...Really Do you?" asked Roger.

"You did this with Daphne's sister Stella. She wanted to study in Harvard and you agreed. Now she says she likes it there and doesnt want to come back. Even for this Event she is landing a day before. Donno whats keeping her so busy out there. Now you want Daphne to go out in Ixtapa of all the places for shopping alone. You leave the reigns and then will come back to me worrying one day that you cant manage things...i donno what is in your mind!"

Daphne dropped in a recline-all chair by the poolside after handing over her empty glass to her attendant..."Now Now...do i go for shopping or not!!??"

"Go, but you need to be back here by an hour ... go now my dear Daphne" said Roger.

Daphne lovingly tapped Pammy's cheek and ran towards her Rolls Royce.

After Daphne left with her driver throttling the Rolls Royce up, Roger asked Pamela "Do you have anything urgent to attend to now?"

"No, tell me what it is, you seem bothered" said Pamela

"Pamela, Paul Robbins is coming in 10 minutes to discuss the event plans. He ran the last year's event in a very organized and successfull manner. With Daphne out shopping, dont you think you should help me out with some suggestions?" asked Roger

"I have a frank question Roger. Do you really think this event has to be an extravaganza?" asked Pamela

"In the position we are today, the groups with which we mingle Pammy, we need to do this to maintain our grace. Though i dont have any intention to join the congressmen or the movie celebrities that i know, i need to keep up with their way of social life. Some of them have already agreed to come over. With such celebrities coming, do you think we can keep the Event simple?"

"Ok dear..i understand. But a 5 day event? Dont you think it is too much?" asked Pamela

"Dear, do you know our networth? Just take a wild guess?" asked Rorger

"Hmm...25 Million?" guessed Pamela.

Roger put down his pipe and started laughing like a kid. "You literally brought down my empire by 75 Million my dear. So now tell me, is spending 2 million on this event worth it or not? Do we have a status to establish here?"

Pamela was about to reply and a deep siren of a police car approaching their beachhouse diverted her attention.
